SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward James "Ed" Vaughn Jr. of
4Cordova, who passed away on May 11, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was born in Moline to Edward Sr. and
6Mable (Slininger) Vaughn on December 23, 1947; he served in
7the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War; he
8married Linda Marie Nichols at the Cordova Baptist Church on
9February 7, 1970; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was employed at John Deere Harvester
11Works as a welder in the maintenance department for more than
1232 years, retiring in 2004; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn enjoyed working on old cars, fishing,
14and making crafts; he was a member of the Stewart Masonic Lodge
15in Geneseo and the Cordova American Legion; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ed Vaughn is survived by his wife, Linda; his
19children, William "Bill" (Cheryl) Vaughn and Tammy Vaughn; his
20sister, Mary Louise McCarthy; his grandchildren, Matthew

1(Ruby), William Jr., Michael, and Nicholas Vaughn; and his
2great-grandsons, James and Carson Vaughn; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Edward James "Ed" Vaughn Jr. and extend our sincere
6condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Ed Vaughn as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
