SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marjorie Nath "Marjie" Ettlinger of
4Highland Park, who passed away on February 22, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger taught English as a Second
6Language (ESL) at Indian Trail Elementary School and Elm Place
7Middle School in Highland Park; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger volunteered for the League of
9Women Voters for over 50 years; after she retired, she
10volunteered as an ESL teacher for adults; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger enjoyed the outdoors, devoting
12her time to supporting environmental causes; she was a
13lifelong student of the Spanish language; she also appreciated
14and supported the arts, particularly classical music, theater,
15and literature; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger will be remembered for her
17legacy of resilience, activism, and love; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger was preceded in death by her
19husband of 74 years, Richard; and

1    WHEREAS, Marjie Ettlinger is survived by her daughters,
2Jan (Stan), Ellen (Jan P.), and Ginny (Jamie); her
3grandchildren, Sam, Rachel, Guy, Serena, Julie, Zoe, and Avi;
4and seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Marjorie Nath "Marjie" Ettlinger and extend our sincere
8condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Marjie Ettlinger as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
