SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Henry Kirke Cushing II of Oak Park,
4who passed away on December 21, 2020 at the age of 78; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was born in Boston, Massachusetts
6on May 12, 1942; he served in the U.S. Air Force; he attended
7the University of Arizona; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Henry Cushing began his career in television at
9KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona; he continued on this professional
10path whenever he relocated to a new city, which included
11working at WHDH-TV and WCVP-TV in Boston and sharing his
12talents with Warner Cable in Columbus, Ohio; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Henry Cushing moved to Chicago in 1979, where he
14served as manager of Electronic News Gathering at WLS-TV for
15the next 22 years until his retirement in 2001; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Throughout his career and during retirement,
17Henry Cushing was an active presence in his community; he
18relished spending time with the Boy Scouts of America and
19supporting local charities and churches; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was well-known for his kindness and

1generosity, and he carried those attributes into all of his
2social interactions; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Henry Cushing was preceded in death by his
4parents, Henry Kirke and Marjorie Estabrook Cushing, and his
5brothers, William H., Reed E., and Michael C.; and
 
6    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Henry Cushing was
7survived by his wife, Janet Jackson Cushing; his sons, David
8(Audra Alessandrone) Jackson and Henry Kirke (Meg Holding)
9Cushing III; and his grandchildren, Jackson and Lucy;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Henry Kirke Cushing II and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Henry Cushing as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
