SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Merriam "Lee" Gustafson of Moline, who
4passed away on August 22, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lee Gustafson was born to Clarence Bernhard and
6Mabel Ann (Hanson) Gustafson in Minneapolis, Minnesota on
7January 16, 1927; he graduated from Dawson High School and the
8University of Minnesota, receiving a degree in agricultural
9engineering; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II
10from 1945 to 1946; he married Inez Kathleen Reiff in
11Minneapolis on December 1, 1951; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lee Gustafson worked as an engineer at John
13Deere; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lee Gustafson was involved in Christian
15education, and he was an avid participant in the Full Gospel
16Business Men's Fellowship and a member of Toastmasters and the
17Christian Service Brigade; he enjoyed photography as a hobby,
18and he loved traveling and researching his Swedish genealogy;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lee Gustafson was preceded in death by his
21parents; his daughter, Sandra Ellen Gustafson; his brother,

1David; and his sister-in-law, Harriett; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lee Gustafson is survived by his wife of 71
3years, Inez; his children, Sheryl (Dorman) Martin Brampton,
4Steven (Marites) Gustafson, Alan (Jana) Gustafson, Kathleen
5Gauwitz, and Gregory (Sheila) Gustafson; eight grandchildren;
6eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Roger (Bonnie)
7Gustafson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Merriam "Lee" Gustafson and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Lee Gustafson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
