SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jim Vinicky, who passed away on March
45, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky grew up in La Grange and raised his
6family in La Grange Highlands; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was an electrical supply salesman
8whose territory included the City of Chicago and the suburbs;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was known as a "foodie" before the
11term existed, and he prided himself on knowing every
12mom-and-pop eatery worth visiting; he was noted for his
13ability to provide information on multiple restaurant options
14in any neighborhood in Chicago or the suburbs to friends and
15family, and a few of his favorite eateries included Stacy's
16Cafe in Bellwood, El Faro in Summit, and Great Wall in Western
17Springs; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky regularly vacationed with his wife in
19Door County, Wisconsin, where he was a frequent visitor of the
20supper club scene; he especially enjoyed visiting the
21Greenwood Supper Club in Fish Creek; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky had many interests; he was an ardent
2fan of the Chicago White Sox; he enjoyed reading the Chicago
3Sun-Times and bowling, with a high score of 279; he loved
4animals, and he once brought home a dog that he found hiding
5under his car while he was on the North Side, naming the dog
6after his car, Lincoln; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was devoted to his family and
8supportive of his children's aspirations; he served as the
9family's perennial, and successfully anonymous, Santa Claus on
10Christmas Eve; he relished swimming with his children and
11grandchildren, despite being a non-swimmer; he was the king of
12dad jokes; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky will be remembered for his
14fun-loving, kind, and altruistic nature; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky is survived by his wife, Sue; his
16children, Jimmy Vinicky Jr. and Amanda Vinicky; his
17daughter-in-law, Blakeley; and his two grandchildren;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Jim Vinicky and extend our sincere condolences to his family,

1friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Jim Vinicky as an expression of our
4deepest sympathy.
