SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous
3industrial process by which a previously sold, leased, used,
4worn, remanufactured, or non-functional product or part is
5returned to a like-new, same-as-when-new, or
6better-than-when-new condition, from both a quality and
7performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible,
8and sustainable process; and
 
9    WHEREAS, A 2012 U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)
10report found that remanufacturers support at least 180,000
11full-time jobs in the U.S.; further, the ITC report states
12that production of remanufactured goods in the U.S. increased
13by 15% from 2009 to 2011 and exports totaled $11.2 billion
14annually; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Remanufacturing has been recognized by leading
16universities, research institutions, and manufacturers in the
17United States as good for the environment for its ability to
18divert end-of-life products from landfills; and
 
19    WHEREAS, By encouraging businesses, state agencies,
20nonprofit organizations, schools, and individuals to celebrate
21Reman Day 2023, we can further promote remanufacturing as
22environmentally friendly and economically smart; and

1    WHEREAS, To focus the nation's attention on the benefits
2of remanufacturing, businesses, educational institutions, and
3nonprofit organizations have joined together to celebrate
4Reman Day and are encouraging their colleagues, friends,
5families, and communities to learn more about the benefits of
6remanufactured products; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare April 13,
92023 as Reman Day in the State of Illinois.
