SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roger Duane Foiles, who passed away on
4February 16, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was born to Jacob Cecil and Carrie
6(Brangenberg) Foiles in Kampsville on April 8, 1941; he
7graduated from Carrollton Community High School in 1959 and
8served his country in the U.S. Army; he married Barbara J.
9Prough at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Carrollton on July 14,
101968; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Roger Foiles operated Foiles Fair Acres in Greene
12County and then expanded his adventure into retail; he owned
13and operated Foiles Customs in Carrollton, where he
14specialized in custom sign work, truck seats, and Amish
15furniture; he would eventually expand his furniture store into
16both Springfield and Grafton; he treasured the relationships
17he had with customers and vendors; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was a founder of Believers Baptist
19Church in Carrollton, where he served for many years as a
20Deacon; he had a kind and generous spirit and was always
21willing to lend a helping hand; and

1    WHEREAS, In his early years, Roger Foiles enjoyed drag
2racing in White Hall, Alton, and Wentzville, Missouri; he
3continued his passion for restoring and collecting antique
4cars throughout his entire life; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Foiles was preceded in death by his parents
6and his five brothers, Raymond, Edgar Ralph, Robert, Gerald,
7and Ronald Foiles; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Roger Foiles is survived by his wife of 55 years,
9Barbara; his son, Scott (Natasha) Foiles; his two daughters,
10Carrie (Keith) Schoonover and Janie (John) Brady; his four
11grandchildren, Jacob, Jordyn, Caleigh, and Allison; and his
12numerous, beloved pets; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Roger Duane Foiles and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Roger Foiles as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
