SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Harry J. Kinowski Jr., who passed away
4on January 27, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski was born on October 30, 1937; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski began his career as a Village of
7Niles employee in 1958 when he joined the public works
8department and as a paid on call firefighter; he became a
9full-time member of the Niles Fire Department in 1960 and
10steadily rose through the ranks; he was appointed as chief of
11the department in 1984 and directed the Niles Fire Department
12for 22 years; he was an instrumental part of the Niles Fire
13Department in his 46 years as a full-time member; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski spearheaded numerous innovations
15that have greatly improved the capabilities of the Niles Fire
16Department; he was instrumental in reorganizing both the fire
17prevention bureau and the training division; he was the
18founder of the R.E.D. Center and was also one of the three
19founding fire chiefs of the Northeastern Illinois Public
20Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA), which now includes 17
21communities; and

1    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski helped coordinate sending 900 area
2personnel and 200 pieces of equipment to Louisiana in the wake
3of Hurricane Katrina through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System
4(MABAS); and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski was a proud member of the Niles
6Lions Club; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Harry Kinowski was the beloved husband of the
8late Arlene (Speichert); the loving father of Beverly
9Kinowski, Harry III (Sue) Kinowski, and Debra (Michael)
10Perrella; the cherished papa of Stephen (Margaret) Cusick,
11Christin (Mike) Mejia, Briana (Chris) Marazas, Nicole
12Perrella, Katrina (Mike) Canevello, and Joey Kinowski; and the
13dear great papa of Oliver Cusick and the late Michael
14Canevello; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Harry J. Kinowski Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Harry Kinowski as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
