SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Dan Meckes on becoming the fifth board chair in
4the 76th year history of Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT),
5where he will be responsible for the strategic direction of
6the firm; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes served as the president and chief
8executive officer of CMT; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes will reach his 40th year of service
10with CMT in 2023; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Under Dan Meckes' leadership, CMT was recognized
12as the 2014 Engineering News Records Midwest Design Firm of
13the Year; and
 
14    WHEREAS, CMT was also recognized with the honor of
15receiving Consultant of the Year in 2013 from MoDOT's External
16Civil Rights Division and, in 2012, was recognized by the
17Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce as one of three recipients
18of the Outstanding Business of the Year; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes helped secure several projects for CMT
20through the Illinois tollways after years of drought by

1building positive relationships and highlighting the special
2qualities that CMT offers; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes navigated CMT to new heights through
4disciplined expansions, remarkable leadership, personal
5integrity, kindness, interpersonal skills, and profound
6stature; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes was named the 2012 Outstanding
8Engineer in Private Practice by the St. Louis Chapter of the
9Missouri Society of Professional Engineers; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes was named the 2019 Sustainability
11Award Winner by the ICAT Executive Board; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes serves on the diversity and executive
13boards of the Innovations Conference on Infrastructure and
14offers significant support to minority and women-owned
15business enterprises; and
 
16    WHEREAS, For the past decade, Dan Meckes worked with Dr.
17Amir Al-Khafaji to determine the annual guest list for the
18executive summit that brought together world-class leaders
19from business, legislatures, government, and education to
20address major problems facing the infrastructure industry; and

1    WHEREAS, For over a decade, Dan Meckes chaired the
2Sustainable Funding of Infrastructure Group of Illinois
3($FIG), which was formed by past Illinois Senate President
4John Cullerton; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes traveled with Dr. Al-Khafaji as a
6speaker at an international conference in Egypt to present an
7article on funding sources of infrastructure in Illinois and a
8second article on funding of infrastructure at the U.S.
9federal level; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes was called "Dr. Meckes" because of the
11quality of his presentations in Egypt; and
 
12    WHEREAS, For more than a decade, Dan Meckes worked with
13Dr. Al-Khafaji to focus on Illinois infrastructure funding
14with senators, house members, governors, and CEOs of major
15companies, including Caterpillar Inc., and these efforts
16helped produce the $45 billion Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan
17in 2019; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes supported minority students, minority
19businesses, and the conferences led by Dr. Al-Khafaji that
20became premier events where leaders gathered to build new
21relationships and partnerships to help the State of Illinois
22and the United States; and

1    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes supported Dr. Al-Khafaji's many
2conferences, which attracted such guests as the Prime Minister
3of Egypt, the President of the Illinois Senate, the Governor
4of Illinois, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, the
5Illinois Secretary of Transportation, the Chicago Commissioner
6of Aviation, the Chairman of the Illinois Tollway Authority,
7and CEOs of some of the largest companies in the world; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes was recently elected to serve as a
92023-2025 national officer with the American Council of
10Engineering Companies (ACEC), the oldest and largest
11professional trade organization of engineering companies; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes and his fellow officers-elect will
13begin their terms at ACEC's 2023 Spring Convention and
14Legislative Summit, slated for a June convening in Washington,
15D.C.; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes served as the chair of the American
17Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Missouri; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes currently serves on the Missouri
19Chamber Board of Directors and the Illinois Chamber PAC Board;
20and

1    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes is grateful for the love and support
2he received from his family and especially his wife, Heidi,
3his daughter, Justine Greever, his son-in-law, Josiah Greever,
4his brother, Bob, and his brother's wife, Melissa, his sister,
5Jane, and his sister's husband, Kevin Alberts, and his mother,
6Ann Meckes; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes is a licensed professional engineer in
8Illinois and Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Meckes earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil
10Engineering from Marquette University; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dan
13Meckes on becoming the fifth board chair of Crawford, Murphy &
14Tilly, Inc. and thank him for his service to the citizens of
15the State of Illinois, especially minority students, and for
16his work to make our country a better place for all; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That that a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Dan Meckes as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
