SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
ILCON Art. V, Sec. 3

    Amends the Executive Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that, in addition to other eligibility requirements, any person seeking to hold the office of Attorney General on or after the second Monday in January of 2027 must be a licensed attorney-at-law of this State. Effective upon being declared adopted.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
5REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be
6submitted to the electors of the State for adoption or
7rejection at the general election next occurring at least 6
8months after the adoption of this resolution a proposition to
9amend Section 3 as follows:

13SECTION 3. ELIGIBILITY
14    To be eligible to hold the office of Governor, Lieutenant
15Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller or
16Treasurer, a person must be a United States citizen, at least
1725 years old, and a resident of this State for the three years
18preceding his election. Additionally, any person seeking to
19hold the office of Attorney General on or after the second
20Monday in January of 2027 must be a licensed attorney-at-law
21of this State.

SCHEDULE
2    This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
3declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
4Constitutional Amendment Act.
