SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals
4who have served our country and State and, in doing so, have
5made the ultimate sacrifice; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Corporal Donald Claude Taylor was born on August
730, 1949; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Cpl. Taylor served with the U.S. Army, 11th Light
9Infantry Brigade, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry, C Company; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Cpl. Taylor began his tour of duty in Vietnam on
11December 11, 1969; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Cpl. Taylor gave his life in service to our
13country on March 5, 1970; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Cpl. Taylor was awarded the Purple Heart, the
15Combat Infantryman Badge, the Marksmanship Badge, the National
16Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam
17Service Medal, the Army Presidential Unit Citation, the
18Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and the Army Good Conduct Medal; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Cpl. Taylor's sacrifice is honored on the Vietnam

1Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC; his name can be found
2inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 13w, Line 86; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF
5REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate
6Interstate 55 as it travels around the city of Chenoa as the
7"Cpl. Donald C. Taylor Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
9is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
10State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
11giving notice of the name "Cpl. Donald C. Taylor Memorial
12Highway"; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Cpl. Taylor and the Secretary of the
15Illinois Department of Transportation.
