SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/6-19  from Ch. 122, par. 6-19

    Amends the Regional Board of School Trustees Article of the School Code. Provides that a vacancy on a regional board of school trustees shall be subject to the residency provisions in the Article unless the vacancy occurs in a single county educational service region (instead of providing that any vacancy is subject to the residency provisions in the Article). Provides that if a vacancy occurs in a single county educational service region, then the vacancy may be filled by a person who is a resident of a congressional township not represented on the board. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
56-19 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/6-19)  (from Ch. 122, par. 6-19)
7    Sec. 6-19. Vacancy on regional board. Any Subject to the
8residency provisions in Section 6-2 of this Code, any vacancy
9on the regional board of school trustees shall be filled from
10the same territory by the remaining members until the next
11regular election for members of the regional board of school
12trustees, when the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired
13time. A vacancy shall be subject to the residency provisions
14in Section 6-2 of this Code unless the vacancy occurs in a
15single county educational service region. If a vacancy occurs
16in a single county educational service region, then the
17vacancy may be filled by a person who is a resident of a
18congressional township not represented on the board. Removal
19of a member from the township from which such member was
20elected into a township which has its quota of members on the
21board shall constitute a vacancy.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
