SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Salaried Board Confirmation Act. Provides that the Senate shall confirm or reject an appointee to any Governor appointed board that receives a salary from the State within either 30 session days after the person has been appointed by the Governor or 90 calendar days after the person has been appointed by the Governor, whichever occurs first. Provides that failure of the Senate to confirm or reject the person appointed within this time period shall be deemed a rejection of the appointment by the Senate. Provides that an appointee to the board whose name has been withdrawn as a nominee to the board by the Governor is ineligible to serve on the board for a period of 2 years after the date of withdrawal. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Salaried Board Confirmation Act.
 
6    Section 5. Confirmation to a salaried board. The Senate
7shall confirm or reject an appointee to any Governor appointed
8board that receives a salary from the State within either:
9        (1) 30 session days after the person has been
10    appointed by the Governor; or
11        (2) 90 calendar days after the person has been
12    appointed by the Governor, whichever occurs first.
13    Failure of the Senate to confirm or reject the person
14appointed within this time period shall be deemed a rejection
15of the appointment by the Senate. An appointee to the board
16whose name has been withdrawn as a nominee to the board by the
17Governor is ineligible to serve on the board for a period of 2
18years after the date of withdrawal.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
