SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/12-4.13a

    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that a household that does not include an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits if the gross income of the household is at or below 200% (rather than 165%) of the nonfarm income poverty guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5changing Section 12-4.13a as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/12-4.13a)
7    Sec. 12-4.13a. Gross income eligibility standard; SNAP.
8Subject to federal approval if required, a household that
9includes an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be
10considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition
11Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such
12household is at or below 200% of the nonfarm income poverty
13guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the
14U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the
15authority of 42 U.S.C. 9902(2); and a household that does not
16include an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be
17considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition
18Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such
19household is at or below 200% 165% of those nonfarm income
20poverty guidelines.
