HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Francis J. "Smitty" Smith
4on the occasion of receiving the IMPACT Award from the
5Economic Alliance of Kankakee County for his decades of
6innovation, investment, and service to the economic growth of
7the region; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Economic Alliance of Kankakee County is a
9public-private partnership that works to expand the economic
10base in Kankakee County by improving the local business
11climate, and its IMPACT Award honors the accomplishments of an
12individual, business, or organization that has propelled
13sustainable growth and progress within the community; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Francis Smith is a lifelong resident of the
15Village of Manteno; after graduating from St. Patrick's High
16School of Kankakee, known today as Bishop McNamara Catholic
17School, and from the University of Notre Dame, he returned to
18the region to start a business career in insurance, banking,
19and development; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Francis Smith, the founder and director of
21Illinois Diversatech, has served the region and community in
22various capacities over the course of many years, including as

1board chairman of holding company Manteno Bancshares, as
2chairman of the Manteno Planning Commission since 2005, and as
3a member of the Riverside Healthcare Board of Directors since
42006; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Francis Smith and his wife of 57 years, Jean, are
6the parents of four children, William, Mike, Pam, and Kelly;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Francis. J. "Smitty" Smith on receiving the
11IMPACT Award from the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County,
12and we recognize him for his accomplishments throughout his
13career; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Francis Smith as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
