HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Benjamin Lucas Pantoja, affectionately known as
3Benny, was born on June 9, 2022 to loving parents Yolanda
4Carrillo and Rogelio Pantoja; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Benjamin Pantoja is lovingly remembered by his
6siblings, Nicolas and Santiago Pantoja; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Benjamin Pantoja was born 36 weeks and four days
8before his scheduled due date via c-section; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Upon requesting a birth certificate for Benjamin
10Pantoja, his parents were not provided with an official birth
11certificate or information on how to obtain one, nor were they
12offered any resources or assistance, but instead received a
13partially filled out commemorative certificate from the
14hospital; and
 
15    WHEREAS, This lack of support and information underscores
16a significant gap in the resources provided to families who
17experience such heartbreaking losses and face medical
18challenges; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Yolanda Carrillo, driven by her experience with
20the birth of her son Benjamin Pantoja, has been proactive in

1advocating for legislative change during the 103rd General
2Assembly, introducing House Bill 5215 and currently supporting
3a bill similar to Senate Bill 3182 to address these very
4issues; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The introduction of such bills highlights the
6ongoing need for legislative measures to ensure that families
7are given proper information and support during these critical
8times; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we recognize and honor the memory of Benjamin Lucas Pantoja
12and acknowledge the significant efforts of his mother, Yolanda
13Carrillo, in advocating for better support and resources for
14families dealing with medical issues and losses; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That we support the ongoing legislative efforts
17to close the gap in information and resources provided to
18affected families, ensuring they receive the proper guidance
19and assistance in navigating their options during such
20difficult times.
