HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate author Philip A. Aleo for
4his dedication to preserving local history and telling the
5stories of local communities in Illinois and the United
6States; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Philip Aleo was born in Chicago and has resided
8in Dundee Township his entire life; he has developed passions
9for history, photography, and travel, combining these
10interests to become an author who has written and published
11over two dozen historical and photographic books; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As an author, Philip Aleo has focused prominently
13on local history, avidly researching and documenting the
14stories of intriguing buildings, landmarks, and people in
15local communities, including Carpentersville, Dundee Township,
16Galena, and Sleepy Hollow in Illinois and Durango, Ouray,
17Silverton, and the ghost town of St. Elmo in Colorado; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Philip Aleo's first publication, Dundee Township,
19Moments Frozen In Time, began as a project of personal
20interest with no intentions of becoming a book but grew into a
21publication when he recognized his interests in history and
22photography could be used to help the local community preserve

1and celebrate its past by documenting Dundee Township through
2photographic history, including East and West Dundee, Old
3Carpentersville, and Meadowdale; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Philip Aleo has also recently published two works
5about Abraham Lincoln, including Abraham Lincoln - Forgotten
6Stories of His Life, detailing Lincoln's life through nearly
750 short stories that originally appeared in Illinois
8newspapers, and Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site,
9telling the story of the village where Lincoln once lived and
10the historic site's reconstruction; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Philip Aleo is an avid researcher who not only
12writes his own books but also completes all photography, photo
13restoration, book and cover design, and formatting for his
14works; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we congratulate Philip A. Aleo for his passion and dedication
18to preserving local history through telling the stories of
19people and places in local communities; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Philip Aleo as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
