HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Salem Community High
4School (SCHS) bowling team on the occasion of winning the
52023-24 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State
6Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The SCHS bowling team came back from a
8third-place standing following the first day of the two-day
9tournament to beat Harrisburg High School for the title on
10Saturday, January 27, attaining a 206.7 per game average over
11Harrisburg High School's 205.9 per game average; and
 
12    WHEREAS, SCHS bowling team senior Dominick Winkler
13finished tenth overall as an individual with 2,604 points,
14while juniors Ryan Detering finished with 2,490 points, Silas
15Moats finished with 2,481 points, Keaton Gullion finished with
162,453 points, and Rhett Detering finished with 2,374 points;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, The SCHS bowling team's latest success marks the
19second year in a row it has won the IHSA State Final
20Tournament, becoming one of only two teams in history to win
21the title back-to-back; and

1    WHEREAS, The SCHS bowling team has now won a total of three
2state championships, one second place finish, and two third
3place finishes since the program started in 2003; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The SCHS bowling team is led by Coach Steve
5Ludwig and Assistant Coach Maliyah Hamilton; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Members of the SCHS bowling team include Rhett
7Detering, Ryan Detering, Evan Gelsinger, Keaton Gullion, Silas
8Moats, Jaret Rushing, and Dominick Winkler; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the Salem Community High School (SCHS) bowling
12team on winning the 2023-24 Illinois High School Association
13(IHSA) State Championship; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
15presented to the coaching staff and players of the SCHS
16bowling team as an expression of our esteem and respect.
