HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert
4A. "Bobby" Joyce Sr. of Frankfort, formerly of Steger, who
5passed away on February 17, 2023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was born on August 27, 1947; he
7graduated from Bloom Township High School and attended
8Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce had an exemplary record of
10leadership, integrity, and service; he was a union official
11for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
12(IBEW), holding titles of vice president, president, and
13secretary/treasurer of System Council U-25; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was co-owner of Weichet Realtors -
15The Home Team in Tinley Park; he retired from Commonwealth
16Edison (ComEd) after 34 years in 2007; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce formerly served as chairman of
18Crusade of Mercy, known today as the United Way, through which
19he led several marches; he was also a successful youth and high
20school baseball and basketball coach for over 55 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was a lifelong, avid Chicago Cubs
2fan; he loved his family, friends, athletes, and community; he
3was a man who never gave up, and he will be remembered for
4leading an extraordinary life without regret; and
 
5    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Bobby Joyce was
6survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa; his children, Robert
7(Valerie) Joyce Jr., Amy (Steve) Herr, and Megan (Tony)
8Kuraja; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and
9cousins; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Robert A. "Bobby" Joyce Sr. and extend
13our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
14knew and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bobby Joyce as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
