HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald
4"Jerry" R. Vander Meer of Antioch, who passed away on April 20,
52023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer was born to Bertha (DeYoung)
7Vander Meer and Robert Vander Meer in Roseland on December 19,
81932; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Susan Paarlberg in
9South Holland on January 17, 1957, and they settled in Antioch
10to raise their family in 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer worked as an agency manager for
12Country Companies for over 30 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer was a very active and loyal
14member of the Lions Club of Antioch for approximately 60
15years, and his unrelenting service earned him the Melvin Jones
16Fellowship Award, the organization's highest international
17honor; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer loved fishing, especially in
19Canada, where he had fished for over 150 weeks in total over
20the course of his life; and

1    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer was a dedicated, hardworking,
2selfless, patriotic, and good man; he will be remembered for
3offering wise advice to his friends and employees and for the
4love, care, passion, and exemplary leadership he provided to
5his family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jerry Vander Meer was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife; his daughter, Kathleen; and his
8sisters-in-law, Dale Paarlberg and Linda Paarlberg; and
 
9    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Jerry Vander Meer was
10survived by his children, Tim (Tina) Vander Meer, Tammy (Lee)
11Taylor, and Tom (Lisa) Vander Meer; his grandchildren, Tyler
12(Ellen) Vander Meer, Mary (Dallas) Mathews, Justin (Katie)
13Vander Meer, Devon Vander Meer, and Zak Gibson; and his
14great-grandchildren, Beau Mathews, Georgia Mathews, and
15Jackson Vander Meer; his sister, Jane (Howard) Goldsworthy;
16his brothers-in-law, John Paarlberg and Robert Paarlberg; and
17many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends; therefore,
18be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn the passing of Gerald "Jerry" R. Vander Meer and
22extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
23who knew and loved him; and be it further
