HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Scott
4Thomas Galto, who passed away on December 17, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Scott Galto was born to Laura and James Galto in
6Winfield on August 10, 1975; he graduated from Glenbard South
7High School in 1993; he received his associate's degree in
8criminal justice from the College of DuPage and completed his
9law enforcement training at the Suburban Law Enforcement
10Academy; he was sworn in as a police officer for the Forest
11Preserve District of DuPage County in March 1999, where he
12served for five years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Scott Galto married Cynthia Olson from Sycamore
14on October 20, 2001; together, they raised two beautiful
15children, Arianna Galto and Kayden Galto; he was so passionate
16about motorcycles and dirt bikes that he taught his children
17how to ride them when they were two and four years of age: he
18was high spirited and never gave up on his passion; he had
19motorcycle accidents but still continued to ride them, and he
20had fun the best way he could with his family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Scott Galto loved and cared for his family; six
22months after the birth of his first daughter, he stepped down

1as a police officer and continued to work as a ranger assistant
2at the Forest Preserve before his resignation in 2009; he
3started working as a stationary fireman helper at Northern
4Illinois University (NIU) in July of 2012; he was dedicated to
5and passionate about his work and become an engineer in the
6heating plant at NIU, where he received accolades for his
7prompt response to situations, integrity, honesty, attention
8to safety, and unmatched hard work; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Scott Galto continued in his engineering career,
10accepting a position as an engineer/boiler operator at the Fox
11Developmental Center in Dwight on September 16, 2022; an
12unfortunate incident took place on December 16, 2022, which
13claimed his life 30 hours later; in his last minutes, he saved
14many lives by notifying people of the danger, even in his
15terrible state; he was selfless, caring, and loving until the
16point of death; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Scott Galto will be remembered for the lives he
18saved; his wife will always remember him as a loving and caring
19husband, and his children will continue to remember him as
20their superhero; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Scott Galto was preceded in death by his paternal
22and maternal grandparents and his father-in-law and
23mother-in-law; and

1    WHEREAS, Scott Galto is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his
2daughter, Arianna Faith; his son, Kayden Scott; his parents,
3James and Laura Galto; his brother, James Galto; his brother,
4Daniel (Stephanie) Galto; his brother, Anthony Galto; his
5brother-in-law, Daniel Olson; his brother-in-law, Eric Olson;
6his sister-in-law, Sarah Garman; and many uncles, aunts,
7nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Rocky;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11mourn the passing of Scott Thomas Galto and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Scott Galto as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
