HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ellen
4Brown-Dixon of Chicago, who passed away on August 4, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon was born in Canton, Mississippi
6to Harvey and Mattie Mondy on November 18, 1920; she married
7Earnest Dixon; she moved to Chicago and became a member of
8Mother of Gospel Truth MB Church; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon worked at Zenith Electronics
10building televisions; she retired from Beverly Bank in 1983;
11she later became a nanny for the Sigman family and loved their
12son, David, as her own; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon enjoyed reading the Bible,
14cooking, baking, entertaining family and friends, and dressing
15"to the Nines"; she supported her block, her church, and her
16community, helping those in need and volunteering in many
17capacities for programs and fundraisers whenever she saw a
18need; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband, Earnest; her son, J.D. Smith; and her
21six siblings; and

1    WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon is survived by her nieces,
2Julia Banks and Tamberla (Jerry) Duckett; her daughter, Anni
3Smith; her nephew, Willis Mondy; her great-great-nephew,
4Marquaris Mondy; her cousin, Dora Branson; and numerous
5nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn the passing of Ellen Brown-Dixon and extend our
10sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
11and loved her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ellen Brown-Dixon as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
