HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Jeff Maierhofer on his
434-year career at Seneca High School and recognize the
5positive impact he has had on students; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer received his education at the
7University of Illinois and obtained a dual major in
8agriculture education and agriculture economics in 1988 and a
9master's degree in agriculture education in 1992; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer embarked on his career in
11education in 1989 in Seneca, and his teaching has included
12agriculture industry, agriculture sciences, horticulture, and
13agribusiness management; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer's career in education at Seneca
15has had a particular focus on agriculture; he teaches
16agriculture, is the advisor of Seneca's Future Farmers of
17America (FFA), and manages the school's land lab; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer has represented agricultural
19education in leadership capacities across the country;
20Seneca's agricultural education department and its Future
21Farmers of America have been recognized on the state and

1national level, including 18 consecutive Illinois FFA
2Outstanding Chapter recognitions; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer is a member of the Illinois
4Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers (IAVAT), the
5Illinois Association of Career and Technical Educators
6(IACTE), the National Association of Agriculture Educators
7(NAAE), and the Association for Career and Technical Education
8(ACTE); and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer served on the Illinois FFA Board
10of Directors, was elected as the 2004-2005 National
11Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) National
12President, spent two terms on the National Council for
13Agricultural Education, was a consultant to the National FFA
14Board of Directors, Trustees of the National FFA Foundation,
15and served as the National Vice President of the Ag Ed Division
16of the Association of Career and Technical Educators (ACTE)
17from 2010-2012; in addition, he serves as an associate
18director for the LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation
19District; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer was awarded the 2022 National
21ACTE Carl Perkins Community Service Award from the Association
22for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), which recognizes
23individuals who have used CTE to make a significant impact on

1their community and who have demonstrated leadership in
2programs and activities that promote student involvement in
3community service; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer is a local historian and served
5on the board of directors of the Seneca Historical Guild,
6where he was the lead author for The Story of Seneca, Illinois
7and helped create the Seneca Area Heritage Museum; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer is a lifelong resident of Seneca,
9where he still lives on the family's Centennial Farm north of
10town; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer's wife, Jenna, is also an
12educator and teaches math at Seneca High School, and the
13couple are proud parents of two vibrant boys, Levi James and
14Calvin Jon; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jeff Maierhofer enjoys working with his father on
16the farm and plays baseball and softball whenever possible;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Jeff Maierhofer on his retirement and thank
21him for his 34 years of service as an educator at Seneca High

1School and for the invaluable impact he has made on the lives
2of his students, his community, and the industry of
3agriculture; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to Jeff Maierhofer as a symbol of our respect and
6esteem.
