HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the members of the
3Illinois House of Representatives remember the many sacrifices
4and contributions to the cause of freedom made by the
5outstanding men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Private First Class Donnie Joe Clough of
8Hindsboro was born to Joseph and Pearl Tate Clough in Tuscola
9on July 27, 1949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, PFC Clough volunteered to serve in the U.S.
11Marine Corps in July of 1968; he was sent overseas on January
1227, 1969, serving as a rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, 2nd
13Battalion, 5th Marine, F Company; and
 
14    WHEREAS, PFC Clough was killed while on duty in the Quang
15Nam Providence in Vietnam on September 9, 1969; and
 
16    WHEREAS, PFC Clough was awarded the Purple Heart, the
17Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with one
18Service Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense
19Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; and
 
20    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, PFC Clough was

1survived by his parents; his brothers, Clyde Russel, Doyle
2Wayne, Alvin Layel, and Bruce Dean; and his sisters, Virginia
3Taylor, Carol Layton, Debra Louise, Linda Sue, and Pamela Kay;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, PFC Clough's name has been immortalized on Panel
6WI8, Line 61 of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, D.C.;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we recognize the ultimate sacrifice Private First Class Donnie
11Joe Clough made for this county and honor his memory; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of PFC Clough as a symbol of our
15deepest sympathy, respect, and esteem.
