HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given
4their lives in service to their communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Third generation volunteer firefighter Kody
6Michael Vanfossan made the ultimate sacrifice while responding
7to a six alarm fire with the Christopher Fire Department on May
85, 2019; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was known for his kind heart and
10willingness to help others, and he had countless friends, both
11in and out of the fire service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was preceded in death by his
13grandparents, Libero and Delphine Bartolotti, Mitch Wilkerson,
14Bob Adams, and Tom Vanfossan; and
 
15    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Kody Vanfossan was
16survived by his son, Erik Michael Vanfossan; his parents; his
17brother; and his sister; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The members of the 101st General Assembly offered
19their respect and condolences via House Resolution 361 for the
20ultimate sacrifice made by fallen firefighter Kody Vanfossan;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
4SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois Route 148
5north of the City of Christopher at the city limits north of
6the intersection of Harrison Street and Highway 148 and south
7of the City of Christopher at the northeast intersection of
8Yellow Banks Road and Illinois Route 148 as the "Firefighter
9Kody M. Vanfossan Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
11is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
12State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
13giving notice of the name of "Firefighter Kody M. Vanfossan
14Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Kody Vanfossan, the Mayor of
17Christopher, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of
18Transportation.
