2023 and 2024 HB4473 Introduced 1/17/2024, by Rep. Mary Gill SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: | | | Amends the State Board of Education Article of the School Code. Provides that the Career and Technical Education Task Force is created within the State Board of Education to examine how to involve more students in technical education. Specifies the members of the Task Force. Provides that the Task Force shall meet once every 3 months at the call of the State Board of Education and shall receive administrative and other support from the State Board of Education. Provides that the Task Force shall prepare and deliver to the State Board of Education a report each year covering the Task Force's findings. Provides that the Task Force is dissolved and the provisions are repealed on January 1, 2026. Effective immediately. |

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 2-3.204 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.204 new) |
7 | | Sec. 2-3.204. Career and Technical Education Task Force. |
8 | | (a) The Career and Technical Education Task Force is |
9 | | created within the State Board of Education to examine how to |
10 | | involve more students in technical education. The Task Force |
11 | | shall consist of all of the following members: |
12 | | (1) One member of the House of Representatives, |
13 | | appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. |
14 | | (2) One member of the House of Representatives, |
15 | | appointed by the Minority Leader of the House of |
16 | | Representatives. |
17 | | (3) One member of the Senate, appointed by the |
18 | | President of the Senate. |
19 | | (4) One member of the Senate, appointed by the |
20 | | Minority Leader of the Senate. |
21 | | (5) Three members representing trade unions, appointed |
22 | | by the Governor. |
23 | | (6) Three members who are school counselors, appointed |
