SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
715 ILCS 5/2.1
715 ILCS 5/3.1  from Ch. 100, par. 3.1

    Amends the Notice by Publication Act. Provides that whenever notice by publication in a newspaper is required by law, order of court, or contract, the newspaper publishing the notice shall, at no additional cost to the government, cause the notice to be placed on the newspaper's website established and maintained as a joint venture of the majority of Illinois newspapers as a repository for such notices. Provides that notice published as required by the Act on news media that exist solely online shall also meet publication requirements so long as the notice is also published in print media as required.

1    AN ACT concerning notices.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Notice By Publication Act is amended by
5changing Sections 2.1 and 3.1 as follows:
 
6    (715 ILCS 5/2.1)
7    Sec. 2.1. Statewide website. Whenever notice by
8publication in a newspaper is required by law, order of court,
9or contract, the newspaper publishing the notice shall, at no
10additional cost to the government, cause the notice to be
11placed on the newspaper's website and the statewide website
12established and maintained as a joint venture of the majority
13of Illinois newspapers as a repository for such notices.

16    Sec. 3.1. When any notice is required by law, or order of
17court, to be published in any newspaper, publication of such
18notice shall include the printing of such notice in the total
19circulation of each edition on the date of publication of the
20newspaper in which the notice is published; and the newspaper
21publishing the notice shall, at no additional cost to the
22government, cause the notice to be placed on the newspaper's

1website and the statewide website established and maintained
2as a joint venture of the majority of Illinois newspapers as a
3repository for such notices. Notice published as required by
4this Act on news media that exist solely online shall also meet
5publication requirements so long as the notice is also
6published in print media as required. All notices required for
7publication by this Act shall remain legal and valid for all
8purposes when any error that occurs pursuant to the
9requirements of this Section for placement of the notice on
10the statewide website is the fault of the printer.
