SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
40 ILCS 5/5-240 new
40 ILCS 5/6-235 new
30 ILCS 805/8.47 new

    Amends the Chicago Police and Chicago Firefighter Articles of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that the Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act (Article 20 of the Code) is adopted and made a part of the Chicago Police and Chicago Firefighter Articles, but only with respect to a person who, on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act, is entitled under the Chicago Police or Chicago Firefighter Article to begin receiving a retirement annuity or survivor's annuity and who elects to proceed under the Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement by the State.

1    AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Sections 5-240 and 6-235 as follows:
 
6    (40 ILCS 5/5-240 new)
7    Sec. 5-240. Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act. The
8Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act, Article 20 of this Code, is
9adopted and made a part of this Article, but only with respect
10to a person who, on or after the effective date of this
11amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly, is entitled
12under this Article to begin receiving a retirement annuity or
13survivor's annuity (as those terms are defined in Article 20)
14and who elects to proceed under the Retirement Systems
15Reciprocal Act.

17    Sec. 6-235. Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act. The
18Retirement Systems Reciprocal Act, Article 20 of this Code, is
19adopted and made a part of this Article, but only with respect
20to a person who, on or after the effective date of this
21amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly, is entitled
22under this Article to begin receiving a retirement annuity or

4    Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding
5Section 8.47 as follows:
 
6    (30 ILCS 805/8.47 new)
7    Sec. 8.47. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and
88 of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for
9the implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory
10Act of the 103rd General Assembly.
