SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael J. Dolan of Oak Park, who
4passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 84; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan was born in Joliet and raised in
6Waukegan; he was the oldest of five children; he and his wife
7of 57 years, Barbara, started their family in Downstate
8Illinois while attending graduate school at Southern Illinois
9University in Carbondale; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan spent his career as a psychology
11administrator at multiple correctional facilities throughout
12the State, beginning in 1971 when he was employed at
13facilities for juvenile offenders by the Department of
14Children and Family Services (DCFS); he later transferred to
15the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), specifically
16the Menard Psychiatric Center, where he designed and
17implemented group counseling programs; he then transferred to
18the Dixon Correctional Center in Sterling in 1990, where he
19established a hospice program for elderly offenders at the
20center's Health Care Unit; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan and Barbara retired to Oak Park in
222004; during this chapter, he was actively involved with the

1Nineteenth Century Charitable Association and served on
2numerous in-house committees; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan held a passion for acting and
4theater with humor and expressive faces being his trademarks;
5he was cast in plays into middle age; he also channeled his
6inner performer during routine social interactions; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan enjoyed reading from many literary
8genres, including biographies and historical fiction; all the
9while, he kept up with updates in literature pertinent to his
10profession; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan was known as the family
12photographer, always carrying his camera to document ordinary
13and extraordinary moments with his wife, children, and
14grandchildren; he was also a notable home chef and handled the
15grocery shopping for his family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Michael Dolan is survived by his children, Shelly
17(Tim Schaffert), Lynne (Mark Argyilan), and Sean (Hillary)
18Dolan, and his grandchildren, Margot, Jacob, River, Fiona, and
19Theo; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Michael J. Dolan and extend our sincere condolences to his
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Michael Dolan as an expression of
