SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael Lee "Mike" Glassner, who
4passed away on August 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Glassner was born in Chicago to Fred and
6Barbara (Franklin) Glassner on April 4, 1947; shortly
7afterward, his family moved to Rock Island; when he was six
8months old, he developed a high fever and convulsions and
9incurred brain damage from encephalitis; and
 
10    WHEREAS, As a child, Mike Glassner worked with Dr. Donald
11Davis of Augustana College in order to achieve his greatest
12potential; speech therapy was a huge part of this regimen, and
13he was able to attend Horace Mann Elementary School in their
14new special needs department; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mike Glassner was able to get his driver's
16license by taking the test orally as he could not read; he held
17many jobs successfully; he worked at Jewel Supermarket and
18Ericksen Chevrolet, as well as serving as a custodian at
19corporate offices and schools; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mike Glassner always had a special love of cars,
21and he asked everyone about their cars; he brought great joy to

1his family and friends with his innocence; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mike Glassner was preceded in death by his
3parents and his nephew, Jared Carver; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mike Glassner is survived by his siblings, Ron
5(Joyce) Glassner, Deborah Jennings, and Marcia (John) Carver
6and several other family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Michael Lee "Mike" Glassner and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Mike Glassner as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
