SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Russell Duane Poppy of Moline, who
4passed away on July 20, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy was born to Frank and Ferne
6(Shattuck) Poppy in Galesburg on December 7, 1932; he served
7in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Carole Ann
8Redmann in Geneseo on June 29, 1962, and she preceded him in
9death on September 18, 2012; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy worked for John Deere Plow Planter
11for over 27 years, retiring on January 1, 1992; he then worked
12as a bus driver for Ridgecrest Retirement Village for over 10
13years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy was a former member of Riverside
15United Methodist Church in Moline and Moline American Legion
16Post #246; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy loved camping and playing roly poly
18in his younger years; he also enjoyed playing Farkle with his
19family on Sundays and watching westerns on TV; his favorite
20flowers were black-eyed Susans and sunflowers; and

1    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy was preceded in death by his
2parents; his wife, Carole Poppy; his granddaughter, Sasha
3Perez; and his siblings, Clifford Poppy and Bonnie Kruse; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Russell Poppy is survived by his daughters, Anna
5(David) Loncarich, Andrea (Julius "J") Perez, Lori (Chris)
6Herr, Barbra (Brad) Harker, and Susan (Rick) Shaffer; his
7grandchildren, Sarah Perez, Zachary Lorenson, Justin Lorenson,
8Phoenix Herr, Jeffrey Herr, Kristen Harker, Ryan Harker, and
9Andrew Poppy; and his sister, Betty Kruse; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Russell Duane Poppy and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Russell Poppy as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
