SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas "Tom" Charles Becker of Des
4Plaines, who passed away on May 13, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Becker was born to Eugene and Marjorie Becker
6in Chicago on November 10, 1957; he grew up in the Independence
7Park neighborhood and was a graduate of Schurz High School; he
8married Valerie Wellar in Mundelein on September 12, 1986; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Tom Becker was a licensed realtor and assisted
10many friends and family in finding their dream homes; he was
11also employed by Peerless Fence Company; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tom Becker was the Des Plaines 6th Ward Alderman
13from May of 1999 to May of 2007; during his tenure, he brought
14many traditions to Des Plaines, including the Christmas Tree
15lighting; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Tom Becker was very active in the community and
17was an avid volunteer with many organizations, including
18Little League, the City of Des Plaines Special Events
19Commission, and Irish Fest for the Special Olympics; he helped
20facilitate the ground breaking of Metro Square and bringing
21the Rivers Casino to Des Plaines; he also worked with many

1animal rescue organizations; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Tom Becker's special interests included Koi fish
3ponds, riding his Harley, and playing cards with his friends;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Becker was preceded in death by his parents;
6his brother, William (Evie); and his numerous pets; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tom Becker is survived by his wife, Valerie; his
8children, Tori, Mark (Renee), and Nicole; his grandchildren,
9Brookelynn, Charlotte, Autumn, and Gabrielle; his granddogs,
10Kaylee, Gracie, and Max; his brother, Bob (Laura); and his
11many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Thomas "Tom" Charles Becker and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Tom Becker as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
