SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joseph Edward "Joe" Ziegler of Rock
4Island, who passed away on May 9, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was born to Edward and Rose (Engels)
6Ziegler in Rock Island on August 16, 1925; he graduated from
7Rock Island High School in 1944; he served in the U.S. Navy
8during World War II; he married Virginia May Long on June 26,
91948, and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2018; he
10was a lifelong resident of Rock Island; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler worked as a security officer at the
12Rock Island Arsenal; following 27 years of service, he retired
13in 1986; prior to that, he served as an office manager for
14Sawyer Biscuit Co. for a time; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was a member of St. Pius X Catholic
16Church; he was a talented woodworker and carver, and he
17enjoyed carving canes; he also enjoyed taking care of his home
18and yard; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was a man of dignity, honesty,
20integrity, dedication, loyalty, benevolence, and humor who
21possessed unconditional love for his family; he brought smiles

1and taught lessons to many; he worked to make the world a
2better place every day for nearly a century; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler was preceded in death by his wife;
4his grandson, Kyle; his parents; and his siblings, Edward,
5Anna, Rose Margaret, Pearl, Amelia, Catherine, and Lillian;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joe Ziegler is survived by his children, Gail
8(Richard) Parsons, Timothy (Paula Zimmerman) Ziegler, Larry
9Ziegler, Constance (Paul) Vaughn, and Michael (Laurie
10Danielson) Ziegler; 16 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren;
11and numerous nieces and nephews and their families; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Joseph Edward "Joe" Ziegler and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Joe Ziegler as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
