SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken of Cordova,
4who passed away on February 28, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was born to Stanley and Constance
6(Navurskis) Staken in Chicago on November 22, 1946; he
7graduated from Austin High School in Chicago; he served in the
8U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Suzanne Georgean
9in Chicago on April 2, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken worked as a fuel handling foreman at
11the Exelon Nuclear Power Plant in Cordova; after retirement,
12he became a private contractor for various nuclear power
13plants across the country; he worked for PLAINS in his last few
14years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was a former member of the VFW and the
16Cordova American Legion; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken enjoyed traveling, camping, and being
18outdoors with his wife; he especially enjoyed hiking with his
19grandchildren; he loved learning new languages, expanding his
20knowledge by reading, and making new friends everywhere he
21went; he loved his family above all; and

1    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was preceded in death by his wife,
2Sue; his parents; his brothers, James Staken and Richard
3Staken; and his niece, Patty; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jeff Staken is survived by his son, Nick
5(Barbara) Staken; his daughters, Laura (Scott) Shields and
6Andria Smith; his grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha (Mike),
7Andrew, Alex (Katee), Jason, Jeffrey, Nick, Suzanna, Isabella,
8and Aiden; and his three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jeff Staken as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
