SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John Patrick Fleming of Pace, Florida,
4who passed away on January 14, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Fleming was born to Patrick and Elizabeth
6Anne (Funk) Fleming in Alton on January 13, 1978; he graduated
7from Marquette High School; he married Helen Street in
8Edwardsville on December 5, 2003, with a public ceremony
9following in Godfrey on May 30, 2004; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Fleming served in the U.S. Army starting in
111999; he completed 20 years of continuous, honorable service
12with the 101st Airborne and Ranger Training Battalions, where
13he achieved the rank of sergeant first class; he was a veteran
14of The Global War on Terrorism, including Operation Enduring
15Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Fleming earned several decorations and
17awards, including the Silver Star for gallantry in action
18against an enemy in Operation Bulldog Bite; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Fleming was actively involved with several
20local organizations, clubs, and governing boards, including
21the Escambia River Gun Club; and

1    WHEREAS, John Fleming enjoyed spending time outdoors,
2shooting, and, above all, spending time with his family,
3including coaching his son in sports; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Fleming was preceded in death by his mother;
5his grandparents, Don and Judy Funk and Thomas and Marion
6Fleming; and his uncle, Donald Funk; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Fleming is survived by his wife; his son,
8John Patrick Jr.; his father, Patrick (Rosemary) Fleming; his
9brother, Michael (April) Fleming; his sister, Anne Fleming;
10his parents-in-law, William and Charlene Street; his
11brother-in-law, Bill (Marissa) Street; his many aunts, uncles,
12nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his good friends; therefore,
13be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John Patrick Fleming and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of John Fleming as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
