SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael T. "Mike" Green of Moline, who
4passed away on November 17, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Green was born to Wayne and Helen (Taylor)
6Green in Monmouth on January 5, 1947; he grew up in Roseville;
7he graduated from Roseville High School in May 1965; he served
8in the U.S. Army, including a yearlong tour in Vietnam; he
9married Marcia K. Lewis in Moline on October 14, 1972; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike Green began his law enforcement career
11working at the Rock Island County Jail; he was sworn in as a
12deputy of the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department in 1970;
13he served as lieutenant in charge of warrant division, jail
14administrator, and under sheriff; he retired as sheriff in
151990; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mike Green then served as the public safety
17manager at the Quad City International Airport until 2000; he
18finished his career of public service as a court security
19officer with the U.S. Marshal's Service until he was diagnosed
20with prostate cancer from Agent Orange; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Mike Green was a longtime member of the Holy

1Cross Lutheran Church in Moline and served on the Board of
2Elders; he was also a member of Vietnam Veterans of America
3Chapter 299; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mike Green was preceded in death by his parents;
5his brother, Gary; and his brother-in-law, Greg Allison; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mike Green is survived by his wife, Marcia; his
7children, Michele Green (Tony Vondracek) and Nathan (Jill)
8Green; his grandchildren, Dane, Sam, Will, Miles, Bella,
9Celia, and Olivia; his sister-in-law, Melinda Green; his
10in-laws, Vicki and Tony Hamilton, Greg and Kathy Lewis, and
11Mark and Sue Lewis; and his many nieces and nephews;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Michael T. "Mike" Green and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Mike Green as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
