SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald Gene "Ron" Stradt of
4Springfield, who passed away on September 26, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt was born in Davenport, Iowa to Robert
6Gene Stradt and Helen Sherie Morrow on March 25, 1963; he was
7raised in Moline and graduated from Moline High School in
81981; he attended the Kansai University of Foreign Languages
9in Osaka, Japan and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business
10Management from the University of Maryland; he received his
11Master of Science in Policy Economics from the University of
12Illinois and his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois
13University in 1996; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from
141983 to 1988; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt remained in Tokyo, Japan after being
16discharged from the military and worked as an associate in the
17legal affairs department with Honda Motors and as a technical
18writer with Passage Technical Publishing & Translation; he was
19previously employed as an attorney at the Illinois Department
20of Securities, as an Assistant State's Attorney in Rock Island
21County, as Assistant Attorney General for the State of
22Illinois, and as Legal Counsel for the Illinois Senate
23Judiciary Committee; most recently, he was employed as the

1Associate General Counsel at the Illinois Education
2Association in Springfield; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt belonged to the Sangamon County Bar
4Association and the Government Bar Association; he was
5learning to fly, made several solo flights, and was in the
6final stages of qualifying as a pilot; he enjoyed music and
7live concerts and played the drums, saxophone, and guitar; he
8inherited his mother's talent for the piano and could always
9answer a question with a song clip; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt's daughter, Sophia, was the light of
11his life; they enjoyed downhill skiing and made numerous trips
12together to Disney World; he relished their time together in
13the kitchen trying new recipes, and the two-story backyard
14playhouse he hand-built for her was a labor of love; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt was preceded in death by his mother,
16Helen Morrow; his stepmother, Carol Stradt; and his niece,
17Sarah Genberg; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ron Stradt is survived by his father, Robert G.
19Stradt; his daughter, Sophia Stradt; his siblings, Robert P.
20(Julie) Stradt, Sandy (Scott) Genberg, Robyn Stradt (Dale
21Clark), Steve (Kerry) Adams, Mike (Leslie) Adams, Deb (Rod)
22Menken, Craig (Jennifer) Adams, Norine (Brian) Daw, and Dale

1Allen Adams; his stepfather, Dale (Sandy) Adams; his nieces
2and nephews, Kristen (Perry) Stradt-Johnson, Joseph Stradt
3(Hailey Schnowske), Mitchell Genberg, Christopher Genberg,
4Elizabeth Genberg, Michael Nance, Rebecca (Scot) Ahlers,
5Benjamen Steen, Kevin Adams, Elijah Adams, Rebekah Adams,
6Joanna Adams, Rachel Adams, Keegan Menken, Noah Menken,
7Brennan Menken, and Jessica Daw; and his great-nieces and
8nephews, Evelyn Ahlers, Zac Ahlers, and Bryligh Nance;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ronald Gene "Ron" Stradt and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ron Stradt as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
