SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Larry Maholland, the former city
4administrator of St. Charles, who passed away on September 7,
52021; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was born to Bill and Betty
7Maholland in Peoria on November 4, 1945; he married Sharon
8Altman in Manteno on September 4, 1971; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Before coming to St. Charles, Larry Maholland
10worked for Streamwood and the Arlington Heights Park District;
11he worked as a finance director for St. Charles beginning in
121982; he became the first city administrator of St. Charles in
131997; he was largely responsible for the successful First
14Street Redevelopment Project, which envisioned a public space
15where people could live and work and shop; he announced his
16retirement as city administrator in 2005, having served the
17city for 22 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In retirement, Larry Maholland worked part time
19in the local government services division of the consulting,
20technology, and accounting firm Sikich LLP for five years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Larry Maholland remained active with the St.

1Charles Rotary Club; he was an emeritus director of the St.
2Charles Public Library Foundation; he helped found and
3volunteered with the River Corridor Foundation; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Larry Maholland will be remembered for his love
5of St. Charles and his commitment to bettering his community;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Maholland is survived by his wife, Sharon;
10his son, Michael (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Isaac, Ada, and
11Emilia; and his sister, Judy Terando; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Larry Maholland and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Larry Maholland as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
