SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Brianna Hope Wood of Peoria, who
4passed away on August 23, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood was born in York, Pennsylvania to
6Jeff and Sandi Okrongley Cross on May 29, 1989; she lived in
7Pennsylvania for the first eight years of her life; her family
8then moved to Oxford, Mississippi before relocating to Peoria
9in 1999; she graduated from Dunlap High School in 2007 and
10earned her bachelor's degree in Education from St. Ambrose
11University in 2011; she married Ryan Wood in Peoria on
12December 19, 2020; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood taught third grade at Harrison
14School in Peoria, pursuing her life's passion to make a
15difference in underserved communities; she was devoted to her
16students, attending their games and performances and checking
17on them at home; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood loved performing in local community
19theater productions; whether she was the lead role or a dancer
20in the ensemble, her smile and energy owned the stage; she also
21loved crafting, making TikTok videos, and watching The Office;
22she enjoyed relaxing on the beach and spending time at

1amusement parks, where she would ride the most extreme roller
2coasters; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood was known for her unmatched capacity
4to love and her ability to feel every emotion exponentially;
5she was the first to hit the dance floor, the biggest smile in
6every photo, and the loudest laugh in the room; she loved her
7family and friends above all else; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood was preceded in death by her
9grandmother, Helen Cross; her uncle, Roger Cross; her
10father-in-law, Steve Wood; and her best friend, Alexa Sheeder;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Brianna Wood is survived by her parents; her
13husband; her sister, Jordan (Mitch) Ryan; her brother, Trevor
14Cross; her maternal grandparents, Nancy DenBesten and Walter
15(Ann Marie) Okrongley; her paternal grandfather, Wayne Cross;
16her mother-in-law, Edie Wood; her sister-in-law, Erin (Dillon)
17Kelly; her nephews, Cooper Ryan and Silas Miller; her nieces,
18Lily Miller and Charlotte Ryan; and her many aunts, uncles,
19cousins, and other extended family members; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Brianna Hope Wood and extend our sincere condolences to her
