SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Freddy L. Schramm, who passed away on
4June 5, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm was born in Chenoa on January 30,
61946; he was raised in Chenoa and later moved to Chicago; he
7moved to Joliet in 1980; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm opened Maneuvers & Company Bar in
9downtown Joliet in 1980; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm was a leader in the LGBTQ
11community, and he always provided a safe place for members of
12the LGBTQ community for more than 40 years; he helped raise
13thousands of dollars to help support community charities that
14benefited LGBTQ youth and HIV treatment and prevention; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm was known for always having an
16open door for anyone in need; he will be dearly missed by all
17who knew him; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm was preceded in death by his
19partner, Andy Sanders; his parents, Elmer and Laveda Schramm;
20his brother, Larry Schramm; and his dear friend, Burt

2    WHEREAS, Freddy Schramm is survived by his sister, Sandy
3Slown; his brother, Elmer "Sonny" Schramm; his numerous nieces
4and nephews; his many dear friends; and his Maneuvers family;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Freddy L. Schramm and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Freddy Schramm as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
