SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Carl Edward Steinmacher of
4Springfield, who passed away on June 2, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher was born in Springfield to Louis
6and Elizabeth (Keller) Steinmacher on August 2, 1941; he
7served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961, where he was a
8member of the 1st Missile Battalion, 33rd Artillery, Barton
9barracks in Ansbach, Germany and learned the art of
10explosives; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher went to work for Kroger Grocery
12upon returning to Springfield; after friends requested
13celebrating a July 4th anniversary with professional grade
14fireworks, he reconnected with his Army experience and trained
15to be a pyrotechnician in Osco in 1971, where he was offered a
16job; he established Stars and Stripes Fireworks of
17Springfield, and he eventually retired the company in 2004; he
18then became lead pyrotechnician of Nostalgia Fireworks; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher created five generations of
20memories as he lit the skies for folks across central
21Illinois; his firework shows generated exclamations of delight
22at a number of events throughout Springfield, including the

1Illinois State Fair starting in the Jim Thompson era, the
2Springfield races, LincolnFest, the Sangamon County Fair, Rock
3the Dock, First Night, the Susan G. Komen Fun Run, the Muni,
4multiple school drama productions, and backyard parties; his
5work was displayed over the tops of grandstand acts, which
6included B.B. King, the Beach Boys, and Willie Nelson; he also
7provided military effects for reenactments at Fort Massac in
8Metropolis; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher was affectionately called "Boom
10Boom" by most and lived his life doing what he loved, creating
11shows that did not disappoint; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher was preceded in death by his
13parents; his brothers, Louis Jr., George, Joseph, and John
14Steinmacher; and his daughter, Carlea Steinmacher Wiedner; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carl Steinmacher is survived by his sisters,
16Dolores Young and Betty Ann (Arnold) Kochman; several nieces
17and nephews; and his firework family friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Carl Edward Steinmacher and extend our sincere condolences to
21his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
