SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of D. Jack May of Moline, who passed away
4on June 22, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack May was born to Don and JoAnn (Simpson) May
6in Fairfield, Iowa on January 1, 1954; he married his high
7school sweetheart Joyce Sirfus in Des Moines, Iowa on March
816, 1973; he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack May had a career in hydraulic/pneumatic
10engineering with positions in five different states; he
11retired from Iowa Fluid Power in October of 2018; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack May was an active member and elder of South
13Park Presbyterian Church; he belonged to the Gold Wing Touring
14Association and served in many leadership roles; he
15volunteered with the Mississippi Bend Trykes, building
16specialty bikes for kids; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jack May enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and riding
18the open road with his friends; family was the most important
19thing to him, especially his beloved grandchildren; he loved a
20good game night full of jokes and laughter; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack May was preceded in death by his parents and
2his sister, Linda Snell; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jack May is survived by his wife of 48 years,
4Joyce; his children, Jennifer (Aaron) Shannon, Jason (Rian)
5May, and Melissa Snell-Christen; his six grandchildren; and
6his sister, Nancy Hayter; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9D. Jack May and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jack May as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
