SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Ray "Jim" Fidlar of Cordova, who
4passed away on June 6, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Edwin
6and Violet (Slater) Fidlar on August 4, 1945; he served in the
7U.S. Marine Corps and saw combat during the Vietnam War; he
8then continued his military career as a prison guard at Camp
9Lejeune Military Base in Jacksonville, North Carolina; he
10married Lynn Smalley in Cordova on August 18, 1996; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar worked as an insurance agent and
12financial advisor for Prudential in Moline for approximately
1310 years; he then worked as a radiation technician for the
14Exelon Nuclear Power Plant, retiring in 2005; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge
16319 in Moline, Cordova American Legion Post #1033, the Vietnam
17Veterans of America, and the Disabled Veterans of America; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was known for being a proud Papa who
19loved following his grandkids and cheering them on during
20their sporting events; he enjoyed fishing and traveling to
21many parts of the country; he was proud of organizing the

1Cordova Sesquicentennial parade; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was preceded in death by his parents;
3his brother, Charles Fidlar; and his brothers-in-law, Emmett
4Lee Downey and Louie Wiklund; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar is survived by his wife, Lynn; his
6daughter, Erin (Jon) Ketelsen (daughter of Janet Duncan
7Fidlar); his son, Mahlon "Mac" (Sarah) Lewis; his brother,
8David Fidlar; his sisters, Verna Mae Downey and Joanne
9Wiklund; his sister-in-law, Patsy Fidlar; and his
10grandchildren, Bryce Ketelsen, Madalyn Ketelsen, Emily Lewis,
11Amy Lewis, and William Lewis; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14James Ray "Jim" Fidlar and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jim Fidlar as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
