SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Doris Markman Gruskin, who passed away
4on October 22, 2020 at the age of 102; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin was a lifelong resident of Oak Park
6and attended Hawthorne School and Oak Park River Forest High
7School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin graduated from Purdue University
9with a degree in textile science; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin was involved with multiple helping
11organizations in Oak Park and beyond, such as West Suburban
12Temple Har Zion, the Oak Park Senior Center, the Oak Park Arts
13Council, and Brandeis University's Women's Organization; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin retired from Montclare Senior
15Residences of Galewood at age 99; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin enjoyed family time in Colorado and
17New Jersey and attending bar and bat mitzvahs for younger
18relatives; during her granddaughter Rachel Lutz's wedding in
19Breckenridge, Colorado, she danced at 10,000 feet elevation;

1    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin loved to read and participated in a
2book club for decades; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin was preceded in death by her
4husband, Alex Gruskin; her brother, Charles (the late Gloria)
5Markman; and her sister, Selma (the late James) Shamberg; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Doris Gruskin is survived by her children, Nancy
7Warner and Mark Gruskin; her grandchildren, Abigail Warner,
8Rachel Lutz (Zach), and Yoni Gruskin; and her great-grandson,
9Jude Lutz; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Doris Markman Gruskin and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Doris Gruskin as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
