SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Rosemarie Long of Sherman, who passed
4away on February 3, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long was born in Springfield to Jack B.
6and Stella M. (Sicilia) Feleccia on July 11, 1941; she married
7John H. "Jack" Long on August 10, 1963; she lived in
8Springfield for the majority of her life; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long served as the Republican chair of
10Sangamon County for 17 years; she was passionate about
11politics, and she thoroughly enjoyed being involved with and
12serving the public; she retired from the State of Illinois;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long represented District 10 while
15serving on the Sangamon County Board from 1992 to 2010, where
16she served as the vice chairman from 2004 to 2010; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long gave her time to a number of
18organizations; she served as the chairman of the World War II
19Memorial fundraiser in 2002 and the 1997 Special Olympics
20fundraiser; and

1    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long was known for having two great
2loves, her husband Jack and a man by the name of Elvis; she
3loved baking with her grandchildren and playing dice games
4with her siblings and in-laws; she provided an annual meatball
5and pasta dinner for the Williamsville High School softball
6team; she will be remembered for her unfailing devotion to and
7affection for her family; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long was preceded in death by her
9parents; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rosemarie Long is survived by her husband of over
1157 years, John H. "Jack" Long; her sons, Brad Long and Brian
12(Lori) Long; her grandchildren, Valerie Scheina, Anthony Long,
13Feleshia Long, Hayley Long, and Payton Long; her
14great-grandchildren, Cassidy Scheina, Bella Scheina, and
15Bryleigh Rose Scheina; her sisters, Mary (Charles) Choate and
16Betty Jo (Thomas) Blasko; her brother, Thomas (Toni) Feleccia;
17and her several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Rosemarie Long and extend our sincere condolences to her
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
