SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1805/28.7

    Amends the Military Code of Illinois. Provides that members of the Illinois National Guard serving on State Active Duty, in addition to those serving in a federal duty or training status, shall have a State flag presented to their next of kin upon their death.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Military Code of Illinois is amended by
5changing Section 28.7 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 1805/28.7)
7    Sec. 28.7. Presentation of State flag. When a member of
8the Illinois National Guard dies while on State Active Duty or
9while serving in duty or training statuses pursuant to Title
1010 or Title 32 of the United States Code as approved by the
11member's service component, the Adjutant General, the
12Assistant Adjutant General for Army, or the Assistant Adjutant
13General for Air shall present one State flag of Illinois to the
14next of kin of the deceased Illinois National Guard member who
15receives the United States burial flag, or that person's
16designee, as soon as is practicable.
