HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Norma
4Jean Hughes of Peoria, who passed away on September 21, 2022;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes was born on May 19, 1951; she was the
7daughter of Hattie Stuckey and Palmer Kennedy, and she was
8also raised by Willie Ella and James Penny; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes worked for the State of Illinois for
10over 30 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes was deeply committed to her faith
12and attended Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church; she
13enjoyed shopping, traveling, and attending music concerts; she
14truly cherished spending time with her family and looked
15forward to family gatherings; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes was known for being there when
17others needed her; she will be remembered for her giving heart
18and her love of family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes was preceded in death by her parents
20and her brothers, Nathaniel Kennedy and Carrie Stuckey; and

1    WHEREAS, Norma Hughes is survived by her sons, Michael
2(Cosheka) Hughes and Alvin Hughes; her daughters, Anisha
3(Pete) Hughes Washington and Nikya Hughes; her sisters, Anita
4Gibson and Janice Stuckey; her brothers, Charles Stuckey,
5Anthony Ray Stuckey, Roosevelt Stuckey, and Sylvester Hughes;
6her 19 grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren; and a host
7of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Norma Jean Hughes and extend our
12sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Norma Hughes as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
