HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Leah A.
4Walker, who passed away on August 25, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leah Walker was born to Rudolph and Lois
6Armstrong in Chicago on February 22, 1942; she graduated from
7Hyde Park High School in 1960; she married Alfonza McKinnor on
8April 19, 1961; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Leah Walker worked as an operating room
10technician, but her true passion was her cooking and baking;
11she could make a meal out of anything and left her children
12with the world's greatest potato salad and meatball stew
13recipes; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Leah Walker also had a love for reading, which
15contributed to the uniqueness of her children's names; there
16was nothing she liked better than gathering with family and
17friends, as well as watching classic movies; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Leah Walker's caring heart and compassionate
19spirit were personified through her service as a caregiver;
20while serving in that capacity, she met John Walker, whom she
21married on October 10, 1990; and

1    WHEREAS, Leah Walker displayed courage and resilience
2throughout her life; she cared deeply about the equality and
3advancement of women's rights and will be especially
4remembered for her quick wit, upbeat spirit, and deep faith;
5she was adored and loved by all who knew her; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Leah Walker was preceded in death by her husband,
7John; her parents; her brother, Richard Armstrong Sr.; and her
8nephew, Richard Armstrong Jr.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Leah Walker is survived by her children,
10Greshynka, Rommel (Latresha), Thrishka, Keisha, and Neitzche
11(Petrina); her bonus son, Brandon (Brandi); her grandchildren,
12Jonathan, Shenice, Jillian, Jason, Jibri, Kiara, Marcus,
13Jammie, and Nasir; her bonus grandchildren, Jazmen, Jayla,
14Brianna, and Bryce; nine great-grandchildren; her niece,
15Elizabeth Armstrong; and numerous cousins, relatives, and
16friends; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we mourn the passing of Leah A. Walker and extend our sincere
20condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21her; and be it further
