HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cercelia
4Catherine Jones, who passed away on July 22, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was born to Carlee Jones and
6Roosevelt Jones at the Cook County Hospital on June 16, 1952;
7she attended St. Athengia Church from preschool through eighth
8grade and joined a mentoring program at Christ the King in her
9early teen years; she graduated from Lucy Flowers High School;
10she earned her associate's degree from Mayfair College; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones previously worked at U.S. Bank,
12where she was named the number one teller and head seller; she
13held a number of jobs, including at Iden Press, Jewel Osco,
14ComEd, and the First National Bank of Oak Park; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was named one of the West Side
16Women of Wisdom and Inspiration in 2018; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones committed to her faith at a young
18age; she was baptized as an infant at St. Athengia Church and
19later joined a baptismal Catholic church; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones enjoyed watching The Bachelorette

1and game shows; she loved the Backstreet Boys song "I Want It
2That Way", taking pictures, and living in the moment; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was preceded in death by her
4parents; her grandmother, Maddie Sharky; her brothers, Lionel
5Jones and Larry Jones; and her son, Rashawn Jones; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones is survived by her sisters,
7Patricia Barlow, Cherie Pennington, and Debra Jones; her
8special niece and daughter, Natalie Jones; her nephew,
9Tammaris Jones; her granddaughters; her great-nieces, Destiny
10(Kay Kay), Nevaeh, Angel, Nalanni, and Debriyah; her grandsons
11and nephews, Jemmaris Jones, Rashaun Jones, Tammaris Jones,
12Tasser Jones, and Pharoah Jones; her best friend, Deborah
13Williams; her special brother, Herbert Mason; and a host of
14cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Cercelia Catherine Jones and extend
18our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
19knew and loved her; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Cercelia Jones as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
