HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lori Casey, Ed.D. on the
4occasion of her retirement as superintendent of Woodland
5School District #50; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey received her Bachelor of Arts in
7Elementary Education and Special Education from Loras College
8in Dubuque, Iowa in 1988; she obtained her Master of Arts in
9Administration and Supervision from National Louis University
10in Evanston in 1992; she earned her Ed.D. in Educational
11Leadership from Concordia University in 2018; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey began her career in education at the
13Special Education District of Lake County; after working in
14the special education district, she worked with children who
15had learning disabilities and social emotional disorders at
16Northwood Junior High in Highland Park; she then joined
17Hawthorn Primary School District #73 and then subsequently
18Hawthorn Junior High School District #73; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey joined Woodland School District #50 as
20special education supervisor for Woodland Middle School in
211998; she then became assistant principal of Woodland
22Elementary East in 2000, principal of Woodland Primary School

1in 2005, and associate superintendent in 2010; she became
2superintendent in 2020; and
 
3    WHEREAS, During her tenure, Dr. Casey oversaw and
4evaluated the district and staff; she served as a member of the
5School Board Contract Negotiating Team for the most four
6recent contracts and previously served as the lead
7administrative negotiator; she was an active participant in
8the Staff Development Program and served on the Assessment
9Committee, the Reconfiguration Committee, the Building Report
10Card Committee, the Multicultural Committee, the Response to
11Intervention (RtI) Committee, the Liaison Committee, and the
12Board Policy Committee; she additionally led the district
13through the ever changing COVID-19 pandemic, negotiating the
14extended contracts of teachers and support staff; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has served as a presenter or panelist
16at numerous local and state conferences, including the 2019
17Joint Annual Conference for IASB, IASA, IASBO, the 2020
18Champions Before/After School National Manager Conference, the
192021 Illinois Joint Annual Conference, and the 2021 Illinois
20Association of School Superintendents' Webinars with Women;
21and
 
22    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey belongs to the Illinois Principals
23Association, the Illinois Association of School

1Administrators, and the American Association of School
2Administrators; she also serves as a board member for the
3Exchange Club of Gurnee and Warren Township Healthy
4Communities/Healthy Youth; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has received a number of accolades
6during her career; she was named Special Education District of
7Lake County's Outstanding Educator of the Year in 1991 and
8Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 1998; she also received the
9Woodland Parent Teacher Association's Award for Outstanding
10Work in the Areas of Children's and Environmental Health in
112012, a commendation for her work in relation to school safety
12by the Gurnee Police Department in 2013, the National School
13Public Relations Association's Golden Achievement Award in
142014, and the Thought Exchange Bold Leadership Award in 2021;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Casey has served Woodland School District #50
17with dedication for 24 years; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Lori Casey, Ed.D. on her retirement from
21Woodland School District #50 and wish her the best in her
22future endeavors; and be it further
